Dr. James Lovelace

Dr. James Lovelace has been providing patient care since 2006 and enjoys meeting new people, solving problems, and helping others improve their lives. He has a deep-rooted empathy for patients with dental fears and special needs. Whatever the needs of his patients, Dr. Lovelace enjoys working together to help improve and maintain their dental care. His favorite aspect of care is the chance to help his patients in potentially life changing ways while walking the journey of life in a long-term partnership. He enjoys learnings about where people are from, what they enjoy and how their life changes with time.

Dr. James Lovelace grew up in Marysville, Washington. During high school he worked after school and on weekends framing, siding & painting residential homes.  In 2001 he graduated from Marysville-Pilchuck high school. In 2006, Dr. Lovelace graduated from the Yakima Valley Dental Hygiene program, spending most of his clinical hygiene practice with Tulalip Dental Clinic. Indian Health Services (IHS) was very supportive in providing opportunities for in school dental care exams, sealants programs and research data collection. In 2013 he received his bachelor’s degree in dental Hygiene from Eastern Washington University and began to consider dentistry. He soon attended night classes while working a full-time hygiene schedule to complete pre-requisite coursework for Dental school.

In 2017 James Lovelace was enrolled in University of Washington School of Dentistry (UWSOD) as one of eight RIDE (Regional Initiatives in Dental Education) students, returning to Eastern Washington University in Spokane WA.  The mission of RIDE is to deliver care to rural & underserved populations.  During his time at UWSOD Dr. Lovelace was involved in student research projects including micro-computed tomography of adhesive bonding interfaces with fiber reinforced composites.  Dr. Lovelace was awarded honors for volunteering over 100 hours of care provided to underserved populations through programs such as Medical Teams International, Teeth & Toes, Health & Homelessness and others. After graduating from UW Dental School in 2021, Dr. Lovelace began Graduate Periodontics training at University of Washington and graduated with his Master of Science in 2024.

Dr. Lovelace has many interests outside of dentistry, although never enough time to enjoy them all. His biggest interests include backpacking and hiking in the PNW.  Cooking is another big hobby that’s lets his creativity shine. You will hardly see Dr. Lovelace without a camera as he is a fan of photography as well.
